DIED. Jim Bishop, 79, terse newspaper columnist and melodramatic you-are-there pop historian (The Day Lincoln Was Shot); in Delray Beach, Fla. Bishop also pounded out The Day Christ Was Born and The Day Kennedy Was Shot, plus 18 other books, and wrote a thrice-weekly column from 1956 until 1983.
