Holiday Affair (RKO Radio) is an unlikely but likable little romantic comedy adroitly warmed with Christmas sentiment. It confronts a confused young war widow (Janet Leigh), working as a department store comparison shopper in the holiday rush, with a choice of two suitors: a safe & sound lawyer (Wendell Corey) who has wooed her for two years, and a happy-go-lucky toy clerk (Robert Mitchum) who tries to win her in a week.

No moviegoer above the age of twelve should fail to spot the victor from the first reel, but both suitors are written and played ingratiatingly enough to make it seem a contest worth watching. Miss Leigh also performs sympathetically in a variety of improbable situations. With the notable exceptions of the heroine's upholstered sweater and the calculated cuteness of a seven-year-old child actor (Gordon Gebert), Scripter Isobel Lennart and Producer-Director Don Hartman have managed to hide most of the comedy's implausibilities in a mellow blur of unpretentious good humor.
