The new Timesman is round, greying, 43-year-old George Walter Streator, new to daily newspapering but a veteran free lance writer, teacher and labor organizer for Sidney Hillman's Amalgamated Cloth ing Workers. Lately he had worked for WPB's labor division. The Times, in hiring Streator for general reporting, followed the example of four neighbors : the Herald Tribune, Post and Brooklyn Eagle, each of which has one Negro staffer, and PM, which has two.
