Still in Stride
The British are not quite as imperturbable as they seem, but last week they seemed more imperturbable than ever. After taking five and a half long years of war, work and worry in their stride, they now planned to control their V-day whoop & holler. Some fine day soon, the King or Prime Minister would solemnly proclaim the official victory--and the rest of that day Britons would be expected to go about their business as usual. Next day would be a duly designated national holiday, a proper time for celebration. No extra supplies of beer or spirits will be released by the Government for the occasion.
