Privacy in the Pacific
Navymen last week were chuckling over a new and true yarn.
From a carrier raid, a pilot failed to return. Forced down in the vast stretches of the Pacific, he lay in his tiny rubber boat. A U.S. submarine finally spotted him.
The sub surfaced, slowly drew close to the yellow raft. Crewmen on the deck saw that the airman was sound asleep under his rubber sheet. From a distance of six feet, a subman bellowed, "Hey!"
The airman woke with such a start that he fell overboard. He was speedily rescued.
