Willie Everlearn

Little Willie, in the .best of sashes,

Fell in the fire and was burned to ashes,

By and by the room grew chilly,

But no one liked to poke up Willie.

Although executives of Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. may never have read the Little Willie jingles, they last week created their own Willie, a lad also fated to lead a hazardous and unfortunate life. The glass company character is Willie Ever-fearn, a lifelike figure of a 14-year-old boy which stands at the entrance to Libbey-Owens-Ford's plate glass factory in Toledo. Whenever a factory workman is injured, Willie Everlearn is bandaged up, and to his shirt is pinned a card describing the nature of the accident and the name of the employe. Factory managers say that no worker likes to see his name on Willie's shirt, that Willie is functioning well as accident-reducer.
