Personnel

Last week the following were news: Frederick Henry Bedford Jr. was elected president of Standard Alcohol Co., a new concern formed to handle Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey's manufacture of alcohol from petroleum. This branch of Standard's business was previously the subject of litigation with Petroleum Chemical Corp., owned by National Distillers and Barnsdall Corp-- Now Petroleum Chemical Corp. will have a large stock interest in Standard Alcohol, settling the suits. Mr. Bedford is a director of Standard Oil Co. (New Jersey). His father was vice president of the company in charge of its lubrication business. His uncle was the late Edward Thomas Bedford, founder & head of Corn Products Refining. He is not to be confused with his cousin Frederick Thomas Bedford, president of Penick & Ford, Ltd. Dr. Rush Rhees, president of University of Rochester, was elected to the board of Eastman Kodak Co., filling the vacancy caused by the death of his good friend George Eastman.
