Civil Service Commission announced that it would thereafter require fingerprints from each & every one of the 170,000 persons per year who compete for the 40,000 classified Federal positions the Commission has to fill. Heretofore only applicants for enforcement jobs (Prohibition, narcotics, customs, immigration) have been required to submit to this form of criminal identification. Each set of fingerprints will be referred to the Department of Justice for comparison in its "morgue" of some 2,000,000 collected from all over the country.
