Insane Women

Although more men than women were admitted to New York State insane asylums last year, the percentage of new cases was less for women than for men, because--the State Department of Mental Hygiene discovered last week--insane women live younger than do insane men. New York State asylums contain approximately 44,500 inmates. Last year their upkeep cost $16,220,197.87.
