Candidate Adds

Alfred E. Smith, Governor of New York, left his state Capital, went to the Bronx, attended the wedding of a niece. From the church the Governor did not go to the wedding breakfast. He went to a parochial school next door where youngsters greeted him, waving the Star Spangled Banner and singing The Sidewalks of New York. The Governor of New York made an address: "Only hard work and hard study can carry the children of the sidewalks of New York, and"--the presidential candidate added--"the children of the country--to success and high honor." Then he went to breakfast with the bride and groom.
