Commission's Demise
The Reparations Commission, a body provided for in the Treaty of Versailles, its duties having largely been transferred to the organization executing the Experts' Plan, decided to vacate the Hotel Astoria in Paris (its headquarters) and move to less pretentious premises. At the same time, the personnel is to be drastically reduced and no high salaries are to be paid. The cost of maintaining the Commission was well over a million dollars a year.
