Rome, N. Y.

Communicants of the Church of Christ's Resurrection, Eastern Orthodox Religion, Rome, N. Y., led by Rev. D. Mykytiak, marched to a stream on the outskirts of the city and celebrated the baptism of Christ, performed 1,900 years ago by John the Baptist in River Jordan. A cross of ice was cut from the stream and candles placed about it. This ceremony, indigeous to Europe, is rare in America.
