Current Activities

Health. The League of Nations' Health Committee concluded its sixth session at Paris. The following business was discussed: plan for setting up a permanent health organization, investigation of cancer mortality, epidemilogical intelligence service, plans for fighting malaria on an international scale, Dutch plan to simplify port sanitary regulations, convention for sanitary control of inland waterways.

Saar Dispute. The British withdrew their request for an investigation by the League of the Saar Valley regime. It is understood that the Saar Valley Government (principally French) agrees to modify its attitude toward suspension of newspapers and arrests of men found to be fomenting strikes.

Cecil Treaty. The League of Nations Commission for the Reduction of Armaments considered a treaty propounded by Lord Robert Cecil. So much criticism was hurled at the scheme that the discussion was finished without coming to a vote. Another discussion will take place later.
